We tell stories with music.

Read Our Stories

Our own story started in 2015. We had the idea to give a fresh interpretation to the traditional concept of the string orchestra. With our passionate group of artistic and business advisors, we decided to forge a new path. The emphasis was on telling stories about important social themes. Stories about people. But especially stories where the music is central.

Stories about important current events.

With projects such as La Captive, D-Radicalize!, In Deep Silence and Be A He(a)ro, we regularly appear on all major concert podia in Flanders, such as BOZAR, deSingel, De Bijloke and Concertgebouw Brugge.
You'll always be able to find us in a concert hall near you!

Nostalgia

In 2018, we released our first CD "Nostalgia", entirely dedicated to the music of Belgian composer Wim Henderickx. This project has received rave reviews in the international music press.

Gramophone Magazine writes: "The number of active string ensembles may be considerable, but Boho Strings is unmatched in its dynamism and unanimity of response."

You’ll be able to find us on Spotify, Apple MusicYouTube Music and lots of other streaming platforms.

David Ramael — artistic director

David Ramael is the perfect example of the modern conductor: entrepreneurial, communicative, groundbreaking. It is very important for him to be as close as possible to his audience. He thus regularly organizes open rehearsals, where he gives listeners a look behind the scenes. He likes giving explanations before and during concerts, and is always ready for a meet-and-greet afterwards. In short, David is far from the old-fashioned ideal of the stiff maestro.

His musical choices are primarily driven by a strong social commitment. In this way he wants to demonstrate that classical music still plays an important role in our society. An inspired vision brought in a sincere way. David is regularly invited as a guest conductor with orchestras at home and abroad. In Belgium he regularly conducts the Belgian National Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique Royale de Liège, and the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. He is also a welcome guest at Zomeropera Alden Biesen.

David lives with his wife in Borgerhout. In their spare time they enjoy walking in nature with Tor and Miss Moneypenny, their American Staffies.
