In the summer of 2020, we lost our dear friend Peter De Prins to suicide. Peter was an entrepreneur, co-founder of LQ and lecturer in change management at Vlerick Hogeschool. He was also a gifted amateur pianist and member of the Board of Directors of Boho Strings. That’s why on September 10 – World Suicide Prevention Day – we’re bringing a memorial concert to honor his boundless energy and passion. Not just any concert but an emotional journey inspired by the story of Orpheus and Euridice.
The soloists for this concert are certainly no strangers to deSingel: countertenor Andreas Scholl and his wife, pianist Tamar Halperin. In January 2020 they were guests in the Blue Hall with a varied recital, now they are accompanied by Boho Strings and the conductor David Ramael in an even more eclectic program. Featuring works by Johann Sebastian Bach, John Dowland, Philip Glass, George Frideric Handel, Joseph Haydn, Billy Joel, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Don McLean, Valentin Silvestrov, and Giovanni Sollima, among others.
All proceeds from this memorial concert will go to support the work of the Center for the Prevention of Suicide, and the Be A He(a)ro initiative, launched after Peter’s death by his wife Veronique Van de Steen, along with LQ, Boho Strings, Fishermen and Xpair Communication.
